Domaine des Deux Roches Macon La Roche Vineuse Blanc Sur Le Fil 2022

Type: White
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol Percentage: 13%
Viticulture: Organic Farming

Climate: Semi-continental climate with variations in temperatures
Terroir: The Mâcon-la-Roche-Vineuse appellation is flanked to the west by the stream known as “Le Fil”, which forms the border with the Saint Véran appellation, and the Gros Mont to the east. Within this zone, our vineyards are to be found at Hurigny and Chevagnyles- Chevrières which have two quite distinct geological profiles. The first is a vineyard of old vines on a wide east-facing plateau with dominantly limestone soils, and the second is a superb valley in the form of an amphitheatre with a higher amount of clay planted with young vines.
Ageing: After harvesting, the grapes are gravity fed into the pneumatic presses. Pressing is long and slow to ensure that the juice is delicately extracted and to preserve its aromatic finesse. The must obtained is cooled and decanted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats and 30% in barrels (less than 10% new). Malolactic fermentation is carried out, or not, depending on the vintage. The wine is then aged on fine lees until the spring. From the moment of harvesting right up to bottling we restrict the use of inputs such as SO2 to a maximum

Color: Deep intense gold
Nose: Perfume of vine flowers balanced with the freshness of white pepper
Palate: Opulent and chewy structure with a floral and fruity expression of this brilliant and noble Chardonnay

About the Winery:
Based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, the Domaine is a joint project of Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region.

Jean-Luc and Christian were childhood friends that each grew up in a family of winemakers and shared a bond from a young age. Always looking to achieve the highest possible quality for their wines, they achieved the High Environmental Certification in 2017 and are now working towards becoming certified organic. Following the success of Deux Roches, the friends now also boast a second property, Altugnac (Languedoc).

Their wines are among the very best expressions of the diverse terroirs of the Mâconnais, from the bright and breezy Bourgogne Blanc Tradition, vinified and raised exclusively in stainless steel, to the rich, textured St Véran.
