Tenuta Luce 2017

Type: Red

Region: Tuscany
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese
Alcohol Percentage: 14.5%

Climate: Crisp spring was followed by a warm, sunny and dry summer with bright cloudless skies. The clayey soils of the Merlot vineyards provided the plants with adequate water reserves, which helped reduce any heat-related stresses. Rain showers in mid-September supported a perfect ripening of the grapes
Terroir: Lying on the gentle slopes to the south-west of the village of Montalcino in Tuscany, the Tenuta Luce vineyards cover an area rich in biodiversity, one of the most suitable for the growing of grapes. Each vineyard parcel has different characteristics and the altitudes range from 200 to 430 meters above sea level. The land here varies greatly in terms of soils, attributable to three main areas: mixed-clayey in the lower, sandy-schistose in the upper, yellow sands and sandstones in the middle.
Ageing: Temperature-controlled fermentation in cement tanks for 20 days. 4 weeks maceration on the skins. Aged for 24 months on 85% new and 15% second use oak barriques

Color: Ruby red
Nose: Intense red fruit with subtle hints of incense and spicy notes that bequeath extraordinary complexity
Palate: Complex with elegant tannins that gives the wine a unique balance and structure

About the Winery:
When Vittorio Frescobaldi met Robert Mondavi in the early 90s, a new chapter in the history of the great Tuscan wines was written. From that meeting, a wine came to life inspired by the desire to make a dream come true: to create a wine in Montalcino, a land of choice for the production of excellent wines, that went beyond the boundaries of tradition, while acknowledging and celebrating it, by treasuring the experiences of two historic families in the world of wine.

This ambitious project took the name of Tenuta Luce, a name that evokes the sunlight of Montalcino, which is the source of life and nourishment, and marks the passage of the seasons and sets the pace for any and every agricultural activity. Since then, Tenuta Luce has always honoured this vision and the symbolic wine of the Tenuta, Luce, has been joined by other exclusive wines, capable of going beyond the boundaries of their territory and earning unanimous approval nationally and internationally.

In 2005, Lamberto Frescobaldi, Vittorio’s son, inherited the direction of the Tenuta Luce project. Today, he is responsible for all production guidelines, from the vineyard to the creation of the blends of each vintage. His work, driven by a deep respect for the land and its people, results in transforming the fruits of the grapevines into fine wines, which reflect the beauty of the land where they are born.
