Paul Ginglinger Pinot Gris Grand Cru Eichberg 2019
Type: White

Terroir: The wine comes from a unique plot located in the heart of the Grand Cru in the place called Oberer Striebicher. The personality of this Pinot Gris is totally dictated by the grand cru: it draws its essence from the sandstone marls of Eichberg, offering a broad, deep and very concentrated structure
Winemaking: Manual harvest. Reception of the grapes with a gravity approach, long and gentle pneumatic pressing to select the best juices. The first juices with more lees are always discarded to preserve finesse, with ultra-rigorous monitoring of fermentations. Aged for 8 months in casks
Color: Golden yellow
Nose: The bouquet is expressed by a complex combination of yellow fruits, pear, vanilla, hazelnut, almond
Palate: Semi to slightly sweet style, always maintaining straightness, elegance and freshness
About the Winery:
Domaine Paul Ginglinger is a family-owned estate located in Eguisheim, a fairytale village just south of Colmar with a long winemaking history. The village is dominated by two grand cru vineyards, Eichberg and Pfersigberg.
Founded in 1610, it is now in the hands of Michel Ginglinger, who represents the 13th generation of the family. The domaine covers 12 ha of vineyards planted to pinot noir, pinot blanc, gewürztraminer, riesling, pinot gris, muscat and sylvaner. The average vine age is 30 years.
The production is certified organic. Michel uses no chemical pesticides or mineral fertilisers, preferring to allow the plants to find their own equilibrium. The result is concentrated, balanced wines with great purity and terroir character from village wines up to the Grands Crus.
