Climate: The sun that warms the hilly soils during the year, alternating with precipitations that quench the fibres, creates a context of great variability that makes every grape harvest so very different from the others
Terroir: Mid-hillside (320-370 mslm) facing est/south-esl
Ageing: Barolo Paiagallo Mirafiore is aged for two years into Allier barrels with a capacity of 2-14 thousand litres. The time spent in oak barrels makes it possible to further refine the tannins without increasing the woody sensation and to achieve the perfect balance between the aroma of the grapes and that of the wood. After its time in wood, the wine is fined, if necessary, to round off any sharpness that might remain and to obtain a perfectly clear product which is then bottled and aged for at least another year before being released onto the market

Color: Ruby-red with garnet highlights
Nose: It has a sumptuous bouquet, with clear-cut overtones of ripe plums, tobacco, mint, rosemary, cinnamon and dried mushrooms
Palate: Very dense, closely-woven tannins give the taste a well-knit sensation, together with softness and balance

About the Winery:
The winery was founded in the 1870s by King Vittorio Emanuel II of Savoy and named for his son (with Countess Bela Rosin), Emanuele, Count of Mirafiore within the Fontanafredda village in Serralunga d’Alba. The name was lost from the estate in the 1940s and passed through several owners until Oscar Farinetti bought the Mirafiore name once again. The wines of Casa E. di Mirafiore are made exclusively from the traditional varieties of the Langhe. Respected winemaker Danilo Drocco follows traditional Piemontese vinification practices including long maceration and aging in large oak casks.
