About the Winery:
Wachter Wiesler stands for a new modern style in Southern Burgenland: multi-layered yet delicate wines, bursting with structure and elegance. No opulent, heavy red barrique ships, but modern, authentic red wines.

Since the talented winemaker, Christoph Wachter took over the family winery in 2008, the uncompromising attitude towards one’s own path has become more and more evident. The organic and careful cultivation of the vineyards, a sure instinct for guiding rather than adulterating the wines in the cellar work and the avoidance of any additives or finings stand for the philosophy: to bring the origin of the special vineyards purely and unadulterated into the bottle.

As is typical for southern Burgenland, the main grape varieties at Wachter Wiesler are Blaufränkisch and Welschriesling. On approx. 10 hectares, organically farmed, there are up to 80-year-old vines, whose special soil consists of a “trinity” of green slate, blue slate and heavy, iron-rich clay. This combination ensures that the wines have an unmistakable character that will amaze you.
