Chateau Guibeau
France | Bordeaux
Certified Organic
Château Guibeau is perched on one of the highest points in Bordeaux, just north of the village of Saint Émilion.
The current estate is the product of a 19th-century association of two neighbouring and family-owned vineyards, overlooking the Puisseguin St Emilion appellation. Their history dates back to 1936 and only allows the production of red wines with a maximum yield of fifty hectoliters per hectare.
Brigitte and Eric Bourlon run those forty hectares of vineyards of clay and limestone organically. Organic farming is rare in this area and it shows their commitment to the estate.
They are convinced that the quality of their wines is the direct result of the respect they have for the land that they love. They mainly grow Merlot, but also Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are thirty years old on average and produce medium-bodied, plums, cassis and dried herbs wines which do not forsake complexity for softness.
