Evans & Tate Piledriver Shiraz 2017

Type: Red
Country: Australia
Region: Margaret River
Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz
Alcohol Percentage: 14.5%

Climate: Moderately warm Mediterranean climate that’s kept cool by the ocean
Terroir: Vines grow on granitic and gneissic rock soil
Winemaking: Harvest was done during the coolest part of the night. The cool fruit was then gently transferred to a fermenter where it was cold soaked to contribute unique aromatics, intense stable colour and a soft texture in the end wine. At the completion of fermentation, each barrel was pressed separately to the tank before being racked off yeast lees to the barrel or tank for maturation. The finished blend was filtered once before bottling

Color: Intense purple red
Nose: Ripe plum, cherry and mulberry aromatics along with fragrant notes of rose petal provide a lovely floral lift. Subtle earthy aromas, savoury spices and fresh cedar from barrel maturation contribute to an intriguing complexity
Palate: Fresh, elegant and long with the rich, pure flavours of the Shiraz varietal filling the mouth. Fine, powdery tannins are a feature of the style resulting in a wine showing great balance and texture
